MS Fridtjof Nansen

MS Fridtjof Nansen is the latest state-of-the-art hybrid expedition cruise ship operated by Hurtigruten Expeditions. The ship is named after Fridtjof Nansen, a renowned Norwegian polar explorer and scientist who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922 for his humanitarian work.

Built in 2020, the MS Fridtjof Nansen is one of the most modern and environmentally friendly ships in the expedition cruise industry. The ship carries a maximum of 530 passengers and 151 crew members who are highly trained in hospitality, navigation, and expedition activities.

One of the most unique features of MS Fridtjof Nansen is its hybrid propulsion system, which allows it to sail silently and emission-free for short periods using battery power. The ship's engines are also designed to run on low-emission marine gas oil, reducing the ship's carbon footprint significantly.
