Although Northern Europe isn’t necessarily associated with having much wildlife, its countries are very diverse and are home to some wonderful animals. Admittedly, it isn’t as popular as countries such as Africa or South America for its wildlife, it still has plenty of flora and fauna to see. Scandinavian countries play host to brown bears whilst in the Highlands of Scotland you might come across wild ponies, goats, otters and seals.

Culture

Europe has had a turbulent past which has certainly shaped much of the culture that can be seen today in its music, art, literature and cuisine. Although the cultures vary from country to country, many parts of Northern Europe are widely known for their laid-back atmosphere, love of the arts and their culinary prowess.

When to to Northern Europe

It does depend on what you want to see during your cruise to Northern Europe, for example if you want to book a cruise to see the Northern Lights then the best time to sail would be between October and March when the skies are at the darkest. But if you prefer to enjoy some sunshine on your holidays, then summer is the best time to visit most countries in Northern Europe. The landscapes in Spring can be particularly beautiful, however, the temperatures tend to be cooler.
